GICLEE ON CANVAS (LIMITED EDITIONS) The newest innovation in limited edition prints is Giclee (zhee-clay), French for "to spray." Through the Giclee process, the art of fine art printing has become more precise. Each print is made individually, on a one-by-one basis, rather than mass produced in the typical photo mechanical offset-lithography used for most limited edition prints. The artwork is scanned or digitally input into a computer, inspected and approved for perfection by the artist, and then, using an enhanced Iris digital ink jet printer, the image is "sprayed" on either canvas or paper. The Iris printer uses continuous tone technology in which infinitely small pixels of color are sprayed onto the canvas or paper, faithfully (as is possible in today's world) mirroring the artists' original work of art. The process is completed by applying UV light resistant and light stabilizer post-coatings. The Giclee Canvas Prints are numbered and hand-signed by the artist.
